NEW TORNADO STORM SHELTER
Within the addition are boys and girl’s restrooms, nine (9) classrooms, a central circulation and collaboration space, a control room, and a self-contained mechanical system located on a mezzanine above the restrooms. The new Tornado Storm Shelter will be constructed over a full crawlspace with a structural

Windows will be insulated aluminum storefront with high performance glass. These openings will be protected by interior-mounted overhead coiling storm doors which, when retracted, will be concealed above the ceiling. At all entrances, tornado-resistant doors will be utilized. A steel frame with metal deck and concrete slab will form the roof structure. The finished roof will be made of multi-ply hot asphalt over tapered polyisocyanurate insulation. Interior construction will be gypsum board on metal stud
partitions, suspended acoustical ceilings with 2×4 lay-in LED light fixtures, and VCT flooring. Restroom floors and walls will be tiled. In the event of an electrical power outage, the Tornado Storm Shelter will be powered by an 8KVA inverter with 120-minute run time.
